Watched a forced regeneration (fap)

Post by amron »

Had a 300 miles round trip to Glasgow today to get my car onto Peugeot Planet diagnostics.....was well impressed when the guy did a forced regenation on my FAP....after reading all about it I never thought that I would have got to see it happen :D very impressive :D couldnt believe the heat and the black smoke wish I had the video camera, then had a good blast down the motorway just wish I didnt have to drive 138 miles to get to one :cheesy:

Love to have seen that - I've read the 'horizontal chimney fire' too, but that's it.
Video would have been good, but I guess someone will put one on You Tube, if they haven't already.
Were you having problems beforehand and did this sort it :?:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Ive got a bit of video on my phone forgot I could take video :cheesy: the noise was wicked.....just to see the black smoke and the heat rising from the engine...even my better half was impressed....think ive done his head in with this car.... :cheesy:
I had new fap and additive top up last January...then around October the car wouldnt start....the fuel had been contaminated with the additive.....got tank cleaned and everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago....the fap light came on and didnt go off saying fap system was defective :cheesy: no eml light :? anyway the local garages didnt have a clue the fault fuel filler cap sensor was on the launch diagnostics so I got theat replaced on Mon and now have the fuel cap open message......Traced a fantastic guy in Glasgow who has a lot of knowledge and training in this system so met him yesterday .....3 hours with the Peugeot Planet....he went through the whole system but the fuel cap open would not clear and it was showing the fap blocked he contacted a pug tech and they both came to the conclusion that the fuel filler cap was faulty and everytime I had started the engine the additive was being injected into the system-----fuel contaminated....and now the additive is empty-----when the additive is filled it should be corrected....hes emailing me the procedure  He forced a regeneration twice and then we had a good run on the motorway then the fap light went out... will let you know what happens when the additive is topped up.....If you pm me your number I can texed you the video It had already started so missed the black plume :D
Cant thank the guy enough our local pug garage are totally clueless on this and told me when the car would cut when driving it was the starter motor  ....would much rather the long drive to Glasgow

I'm sure I saw one on YewTewb but I can't find one now (I couldn't find my arse with both hands and a map today) but I did find this, apparently "sem" is Portugese for "without"

I tried too - nearest was this which shows many of the bits, but not a regen - how's your Hungarian?

This Ford clip looks scary

We need to be careful here - some of our more impressionable members will want one
