Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
116,500 ish on a 1997 2.1 TD 12v executive
bought the car with 6 months MOT for £250, couldn't believe it was going so cheap, just put a new mot on it 1 month ago and all it needed was number plate bulbs, rear brake pads and a wheel bearing. came with FSH, reciept for brand new brake calipers all round less than a year before i bought it, has peugeot written on the oil filter, windscreen wipers etc etc and 4 matching dunlop tyres.
Can really tell it was looked after, so you can imagine how gutted i am since the timing belt snapped just under 3 hours ago.

I rolled over to 170,000 shortly after leaving work this afternoon. I may have done a few laps of the campus so it'd roll over somewhere I could stop and take a picture for a new sig... ;)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
Hi ,I have owned a MK1 1996 2Ltr 16v petrol LX for the last 12 years which I bought from new.She is very reliable and has now covered 149,000 miles and apart from having the tyres, brake disc's, pads, shoes and the back box replaced ,the only other thing that has been replaced was the A/C compressor unit which was leaking oil.The car gets serviced every 10,000 miles. I fixed an erratic speedo fault myself which I will post on the "how to " bit once i know how to post it. Having said all that ,the car has recently developed an intermittent "slow return to tickover" problem ,coupled with a high tickover in neutral while the car is moving, but drops to 950 rpm once the car comes to a halt (any ideas anyone !) I suspect the Throttle Pot is iffy!
MK1 1996 2Ltr 16v Petrol LX, 167,000 miles,was aiming for 200,000.

Re: HOW MANY MILES HAS YOUR PUG COVERED?
A friend of mine in Devon has owned a coupe from new. It has the two litre petrol engine and he spends his life on the motorways. He gave me a lift in it the other day and very nice it was to. I looked at the mileage, 258,600 and nothing more major than the condensor and radiator. Not bad for a petrol engine.

That engine is one of automotives best kept secrets! it can be looked after, abused, whatever and still carries on regardless.Busman wrote:...two litre petrol engine.... 258,600
