Speedo zeros and power drops
Strange one here every now and then my speedo drops to zero and at the same time the power drops only a tiny fraction as though I have lightly lifted my right foot , I can still accelerate etc , after a while the speedo cmes back and I feel the power come back. Any ideas?
Re: Speedo zeros and power drops
Very odd. I can't see how the two are related unless something's causing the ECU to temporarily enter limp-home mode
Is it a D8 or D9?

Re: Speedo zeros and power drops
loose sensor. its in one of the back wheels.
Thr air flow meter is determined by speed, so it switches off when the car thinks its doing 0mph, hence no power.

Re: Speedo zeros and power drops
You're putting your money on it having a MAF sensor?

Re: Speedo zeros and power drops
Judging by your user name it's a hdi, in which case its either a bad connectio on the speedo sensor which is on the diff, or it's a bad connection in the dash. Plenty of info on here if you search speedo.

Re: Speedo zeros and power drops
Mine does / did the same thing ... it's an x reg (sep 2000) 2.0 hdi.
I recently went to change the battery (ALWAYS check the spare batteries have the terminals in the right postition .. dam
)and ended up just giving the terminals on the old battery a good polish and resealed with white lithium grease ...
Since then i have not had it drop .. so maybe a bad earth ? equally it hasn't rained like it was before the mini op .. so maybe related ? i.e. possibly the multiplug in the drivers swimming pool .. er footwell ...
