remote locking issue

when i got my coupe the remote central locking worked fine, but the key had the plastic button cover missing, so you had to kind of poke your finger down inside it.

Also the keypad had been by passed, so you had to turn the key in the ignition, press the button and then turn again to start.

now due to the missing button cover this was quite fiddly, but the spare key would not work at all.

so, being a resourcefull chappy, i took the battery, circuit etc out of the main key, and put it in the spare key which had the button cover still in place, and now my remote central locking does not work at all, but the keypad immobiliser does.


when i press the button on the key, the wee light comes on, but nothing happens.

Why didn't you just swap the button into the key that worked?

i had to take the circuit out to change the button cover anyway, so was quicker to just refit everything in the key that was in good nick.

is there a reset or anything you can do?

i have always had fords, hondas and rovers and i know on all of them there is a reset proceedure that usually sorts it out.

I know what you mean. I have that issue before.

Put the key in the ignition turning key but not starting and pressing the big button on and off.

Then keeping big button pressed in turning key but not starting. That should reset the the remote.
