Im concerned at the pugs rear.. Everytime i go over a bump, the rear end shimmies about, its like driving a bendy bus.
Iv jacked it up, but there appears to be little or no play in the wheels.. Any ideas what could be the cause of this?..

I had a grab and a tug the best i could.. didnt really feel any movement
You may not if you grab the wheel while it's jacked up. But if the rear end is sloppy something must have play in it!
If you're good with spanners the parts are cheap and you'll do it in 3 or 4 hours, I did and I'd never tackled such a job before!

Apart from checking the anti roll bar bushes and link rods, you should check the shock absorbers for leaking and push down on the rear end, if there is a "bouncy" effect, or lack of resistance to you pushing down on the rear, you may have seriously worn shock absorbers.
What you describe is classic shock absorber wear, but it could also be worn bushes, or even a broken spring....check everything, even the tyres for being out of shape.

Yeh im reasonably handy with a spanner. Are they easily accessible? My other car needs the subframe dropping

Theres does seem to be a bit of bounce when pushing down. Its not bouncy when going over the bumps though.. its more of a sideways movement...
If you push down hard on the back of the car, it should press down once then stop, if it carries on moving, ie, you can easily push it up and down a few times, your shock absorbers are shot.In other words, the whole back of the car will feel very soft.A bit like pushing a see-saw up and down.
You will get sideways movement as well, ie, a sideways lurch, you may get the car feeling like it moves sideways on cornering.
I would check all the bushes, link rods, and the shockers for leaking.
