Think I'm going to wash this one

Post by mjb »

It may drive like a bag of bolts at the moment, but my god does it look beautiful!

This is it, on the right (many thanks to rsloman over at the coupe club for this awesome picture at the meet last weekend)

So I think I'm going to try to keep it clean  yes, you read that right - me cleaning the car!

Any tips on stuff to get before I nip to tescos at midnight? Bear in mind I usually have to park a fair distance from my house, often in the next street... I usually wash it using a bucket of hot water and Turtle Wax shampoo stuff from a clear bottle (doesn't leave white streaks), and rinsed off with a bucket of cold water literally thrown at it

In particular I want to try to get some of the muck and brake dust off the alloys. How do I do that without tearing the sponge to shreds?

nice car mj!!!!!!!!!

ive never had the pleasure of owning a car with alloys but friends have told me they use an old tooth brush to clean them as that gets in to the small areas very well...... apparently

im sure others will have a better idea than that lol

YAY MADE IT TO 100 POSTS WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! (oops sorry lmao does that make me a post whore now? hehehe)

not wanting to be one to plug the place i work for but .........
motor world do a thing called nanomeric in that range is a wheel seal and protector it's on 1/2 price at the moment and if i remember correctly it's 4.99

once you have cleaned the wheels ...... i recommend wonder-wheels then use this nanomeric spray that will seal the wheels and stop brake dust and grime sticking to them and mean that you can just give them a wipe over to clean them next time

i never believed it was that good but seeing as it was on special i got some for the old dears Audi and it really works

I use car wax (polish) to clean my alloys, then it leaves them with a protective seal too!

tbh you won't be able to really attack it properly until you have your own space/driveway :(

It was supposed to have been a local meet, but it ended up with 30 coupes in attendance from as far afield as Scotland  They're a right dedicated lot ain't they!

I thought your coop got smashed up by him?

You could have bought him along - I'm sure he'd have gotten along great with 30 coupe fanatics that had just been told he got drunk and wrecked a satellite grey (was it?) v6

A good degreaser from halfords is what i use to remove brake dust from alloys. Just disolves it right off. then give it a rinse and bobs your uncle
