is it possible to turn on the reminder buzzing or whatever it is for the side lights as it does for the dipped main lights? the other half left the sidelights on all day and managed to kill the battery
also, is it possible (as my old fiat did) to have the lights turn off with the engine?
and lastly - is it just mine or does the 406 not makle a 'tick tock' indicator noise
The indicator noise should come from a little speaker just behind the instrument cluster fascia on D9s (I think) which is controlled by the BSI. In fact I believe it's an MOT failure for there to not be both a visual AND audible notification of indicator activity
The lights on buzzer should also sound for the sidelights. Are you sure it still does for the headlamps? I'm wondering if it all comes through the same speaker and it's become disconnected/broken...
As for the lights turning off with the engine, It would be possible with some re-wiring on non-multiplex (COM2000) cars, not* on multiplexed systems like yours.
* Technically it may be possible IF there's an option coded into the BSI's programming to allow that behaviour, which I doubt. It would require a trip to a dealers though.

hmmmmmm well ill take a browse through the haynes about that speaker, by instrument cluster do you mean the speedo etc? as ive gotta take that out in order to replace some bulbs soon but on a whole i think i may just live with it
I mean the fascia - the big lump of plastic which surrounds the instrument cluster and 3 air vents. I *think* the speaker should be located somewhere around the vent closest to the drivers door, at least that's where they hid the indicator relay on D8s so it can be heard more easily... But then that was a relay and the lights on siren sound came from elsewhere....
I'll try and have a listen tonight, see if I can hear where it's coming from - servicebox is being unhelpful in this repect
