New to the 406 world.. and i LOVE it

Post by Jay »

Hey guys, bought my 406 on sunday 15th this month, it is a silver HDi rapier, 2000 model with 105k on the clock, has been re-mapped too, also previous owner had put some very comfy electric leather seats into it. I am very pleased with car, it drives very well, i have gone from a 306 to this and the difference is unreal :)

i will have a few small questions to ask... like heated seats etc.. can i put heaters into my leathers? and cruise control.. i quite fancy this haha.. also SAT NAV, i have seen later models have this, is it possible to put one into my car? also il be wanting a FMIC kit from a 110 HDi, and i want some nimrod like wheels, 16". also il be looking to get some black or silver card and dash trims, and also i will be getting a small lip spoiler for the tailgate. any info on any of these is very much appreciated :)

thanks

Fitting the FMIC from a 110 won't really do much - Diesel performance is all about the fuelling, less about the charge temps. Sure the 110 has an intercooler but it works with the fuel map and keeps emissions in check. You could try it but my guess is you will just introduce some turbo lag.

If it's got leathers then the heaters are standard, it's a bit tricky to wire them so a lot of people don't bother whn they fit the seats. Someone on here will know though.

Cruise control is possible, you will need all the gubbins from a donor car BUT you will also need to visit the Dealer to get the BSi configured to run the cruise :|

Peugeot 406 Sat Nav is absolutely crap - I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Do a search fo the boot spoiler, I posted a place that does the OE one for about £80.00 (thinks it's "Yeomans" or someone).

The dash/door card trim can be painted an some on here (ages ago) coloured thiers with quite nice results - I'd go for a darker silver like the latest 'SE' models 53/04 reg.

Welcome Jay :D ,

Hmm, I'm not sure if there were any 406 leathers that didn't have heaters, so I reckon it's likely that the elements are already there but not wired up. If that's the case they'll just need wiring up, it's been done before... do a search using the box at the top of the page.

Cruise could be a bit tricky, someone will be along soon with more info I'm sure. Sat-nav, don't bother, the OEM one is pants, buy a tom-tom   Card and dash trims has also been done, paint 'em yourself :P , search again  .

EDIT - damn you Welly!

cheers for the comments guys, il leave cruise control alone i think haha.. although its something i could look into at a later date.

is there plenty people breaking 406's on here then? as il be needing to buy some heted seat switches :) - and my trims are allready painted, as is the ashtray, but i was wanting to put some others in, either that or i could paint them dark silver i supose :)

sat nav too, if its no good il leave that alone too lol.

although im unsure about the FMIC, ive had different opinions on it so far.

il get some pics up later, im not sure if the previous owner may be a member on here so you may have seen it before.. but for now im off to college :)

I'd test the heater connection on the chair(s) before investing in switches. Most seats appear break their elements quite easily

Welcome Jay! :D
Have a search on Cruise Control from user jameslxdt, he did the retrofit but as already mentioned you will need to get it enabled in the bsi.

I'm the previous owner!

Welcome Jay to the 'other side' . bit of a role reversal now as i'm back to a 306. I can confirm the seats i put in did have the heaters and the wires are stowed up the frame somewhere. I just never felt confident enough to run them through the fag lighter feed even though the fuse ratings are the same.
If you have ANY problems with the electrics on the seats just give me a shout as i still have the wiring diagram for them and at least one other member has put up a guide.
