new pug
hi looking at buying new pug quite like 407 hdi anyone know anything bout them
Re: new pug
Hey. What HDi? The 1.6, 2.0 or 2.2
I drove the 2.0 before and was very impressed. The 407 handles incredibly well and has very punchy acceleration. My only complaint is that the steering is very vague at low speeds and i hear they have electrical issues. I wouldn't buy a 407. I think there are better cars out there for the money. The 406 is gonna be my last model of Pug i think

Re: new pug
The 407s a great car, but boot space is limited on the estate and they have a bad habit of destroying clutches
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: new pug
Ive always had french cars and covered at least 800k in them, never had a serious problem, worse was the clutch and altenator going, however looking at the cost of new french stuff, you simply cant match things from korea etc
Sad to say that my next car probably wont be french

HI,
I'm told by the taxi garage not to bother....as they eat clutches at nearly a grand a time.

You can always get an uprated clutch and single mass flywheel conversion and be done with it

Re: new pug

Re: new pug
Hi,
Ive never snapped a crank yet!
Cam's yes!
I know the Mondeo guys have really been blighted with these awful clutches. Solid flywheels now available.

Different car altogether, but bear with me.Captain Jack wrote:You can always get an uprated clutch and single mass flywheel conversion and be done with it
My old octavia 110 tdi (remapped to 140bhp) quickly knackered the DMF and clutch kit in it. I had a solid flywheel and sprung clutch plate conversion done on it and was never 100% happy with the level of vibrations and slight harshness which found its way into the cabin.
Wouldnt go down that route again, even though it was substantially cheaper...
