Without the undertray you get 'buffeting' from underneath arund the sump area which interupts the smooth flow through the engine bay.

Stevie - why not fashion your own undertray with your leet welding skilz

Leet? I think the idea is it's meant to be removable.

According to service box there is a sheet steel bash plate for the 406 (at least that's what it looks like to me- "GUARD SHEET MET "), and it costs less than an undertray

Could be, I'll go look for the flame thrower attachment (for all your English sheep incineration needs)

The scrotes who did my clutch sheared the centre stud on mine. So I found an old M6 bolt, sawed the head off and 'glued' the stud in place with my welding kit. Just needed a nut and penny washer from my bits box and the job was done. Cost nil, time 15 mins.

Whilst travelling along the delightful Huntingdon - Cambridge strech of the A14, (c/w average speed cameras), on Sunday, I had the joyous experience of avoiding not one, but two sizeable chunks of potentially airborne undertray.
The first, from a Citreon C3, was about 18" x 12" and I just managed not to clip it.
Not 5 minutes later, I caught up with one of those Munster-Mobile Ford Scorpios we'd almost managed to forget, (except perhaps after particularly strong cheese). This one seemed to have snared a black bin-bag which was flapping underneath. On closer inspection it was the whole undertray oscillating violently between scraping the road and jumping back into place. I thought about dropping back & letting someone else take the initial impact, but concluded this would probably give me less reaction time & possibly multiple hazards to avoid, so I just dropped back a bit, waited & hoped for the best.....
After a few minutes, Herman pulled into the inside lane & doggy took off like a lurcher avoiding the pikeys, (sod the average speed cameras)! Got past without further incident, but felt I'd been lucky not to have collected anything in the process. :supafrisk:

I saw a Ford Scrapio the other day too, seems we all weren't quite ready for the cutting-edge 'styling'? at the time :?

Ford don't do a big motah anymore do they, you have to buy a Galaxy now :|

I hate stuff in the road - the amount of times I've had to 'straddle' something and just had to cringe and wait for the possible bang underneath :o
