Right I was taking bits apart earlier (initially to clean my stepper motor) and took this off...
Its a circularish clip that comes open and can be sprung shut,its got a toothed grip at the bottom that hooks onto something.
I came to put everything back and forgot where this goes,can anyone enlighten me?
Its from a 1.8 d9 btw.
