Is it supposed to look like this?
Seems that the needles don't illuminate on me fuel or temperature gauges. Is this normal, or do I have strategically-placed bulbs gone?

I'd say you've got a bulb or two gone. Fairly certain all my needles light up the same, however there's now loads of sun where I live atm so I can't check.

My D8 has one bulb down, so I don't get to read the fuel gauge when it's dark.

Re: Is it supposed to look like this?
just a couple of bulbs gone. if i were you i'd consider buying a load and changing them all to save faffing around replacing more in future
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Yes I read about your stereo smashing anticssteve_earwig wrote:Apart from stereos

I think you'll have to get one ebayed over? ...........que taxation, postage, loss, etc etc

Thinking about it, my 'On' button used to require more than a firm push to get it to wake up

Doh! I've just realised the stereo has to be enabled at the Dealers

I can forsee another Heath Robinson Steve Earwig "repair"

Re: Is it supposed to look like this?
I don't think so, after the bastards tax me (new law, just for me
) on anything I get off ebay it'll be cheaper to buy a new one. I've made an attempt to fix it, all I need from that end is the volume and on/off so I've bridged them. I think. Even if it does work I'm thinking how nice an mp3 player would be and I've already confused myself silly trying to work out what stereo I need to buy for the Connects2 interface to work it via the remote (expect questions soon people
)

Re: Is it supposed to look like this?
You seem to have managed fine without it - have considered a career in NDT?
I agree, not much prospect of patching the pcb, but as you said, it should be easy enough to swap that board without changing the whole head unit.
Maybe if you start a thread on upgrading to MP3, or start a fashion for quoting dB figures in your signature.....
