While on holiday for a week in Devon i was unfortunate enough to break down due to a failed diesel pump in the tank and as usual when out and about only minimal tools were at hand, so off to the local garage it went, a new pump was fitted and £275 later i was reunited with my 406 HDI.
Before it went into the garage i tested fuses etc and noticed the mileometer/trip recorder wasn't iluminated and the electric windows didn't work with the ignition on as they should have done.
As the car was running when a new pump was fitted i decided to travel home and then tackle this new fault.
I now have a car with the faults as follows: mileometer/trip recorder, indicators and elec windows don't work with ignition on but work fine when engine is running and the wipers wipe about 9 times and park where ever they please in any of the 4 settings they have (wipe once, rain sensor, speed 1, speed 2) which is slightly annoying.
Any help would be appreciated.
The car is a 2000 W 406 GLX HDI 110 120000 miles
elec problem please help

Try searching for 'BSI reset' and give it a try
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: elec problem please help
There is good chance when they fitted the pump they did not earth it correctly and have blown some fuses and the 'Wiper timer relay'
Check out http://www.peugeotlogic.com/fuses/fuses406/fuses1.htm and swap some over dude.
Hope this work but i'll investigate more and keep an eye on this post
good luck!

Re: elec problem please help
Have checked the fuses well the ones in the engine compartment and under the dash on the drivers side and they all seem to be O.K.
But if the indicators, wipers, windows etc work with the engine running (which they do) surely all the fuses would be O.K.
Also i found the BSI reset instructions and have tried that but still the same, any more ideas before i torch it lol !!!!!!!!

Re: elec problem please help
Sorry for the delay as iv been busy with other things like losing job etc.
Now 2 so called Peugeot wxperts ahve said too different things 1 The ignition has burnt out a common problem and it would cause these faults
2 The electronic control box has burnt out and the relay on the wiper motor is faulty.
Cant say i'm over confident with the answers, would this fault show up if the car was connrcted to the peugeot diagnostics ????? Does this look like another expensive Peugeot Dealer rip off job ????????? "French engineering what a nightmare"
