Can someone with a D9 do me a favour and take it to the brink of stalling for me? Does the central display get very dim and flicker on and off?
Mine does, I suspect I've really got a dud battery causing me electric problems
Interestingly, eurocarparts' website wants to sell 406 V6 owners a low-end battery with about 400CCA (cold-cranking amps) capability instead of the 720CCA specified by Peugeot (apparently these things have issues with batteries that can't supply about 550CCA). If I want a strong battery, I need to tell the website it's a hdi110
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

When the battery is low, the display fickers and the dash lights go a bit haywire. When you try to start it, you get a ticking noise.

Before you replace the battery test the Re-charge/voltage on ignition rate also... a duff alternator will cause the same problems too and many just knacker your lovely new expensive battery. I had a bora which at low revs would dim all the lights and the central locking would go haywire, replaced the battery which cured it for about a week but the alternator was the culpret.
Also.. check your earth strap. another cause of making the battery look duff but actually just making the battery/alternator work overtime!
if not just ignore me... usually the simple solution is the safe bet
Diesel needs lots of muscle to get spinning, the more CCA the better. A small one battery may upset the electronics since it's output will drop dramatically and it won't last half as long. Don't do it, get the big one!
