passenger side window problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Post by ebner33 »

The problem is since i bought it 2 months ago!
It is very strange because the switch is glowing in the night but i can´t open the window even not from my driver side!
Anybody know this problem?
The next problem is that i can´t close my other windows with only pushing the switch one time.
The windows close in many steps of 4-5cm !
Does anybody know why??

I'm not too sure about the passenger window if it doesn't operate from either switch.

But the only auto switch on the 406 belongs to the drivers side window, the rest are manual switches.

Sounds like something's up with the motor in the door.

As eoin said, it's only the driver's window that has one-touch opening and closing (see the 'A' written on the switch?). The others are manual switches that need to be held down. The drivers door should behave in the same way if you press the switch lightly

When you press or pull the window switch to send the window up

Do you have electric door mirrors, and if so do they work on that door?

Does sound like a loose connection somewhere! Strip back the carpet on the door side of the drivers footwell; there's a multiblock connector that feeds the doorloom and possibly the door open switch; it may be loose or someone has been tinkering. You have to unscrew a locking ring to disconnect the two halves of the connector, maybe someone didn't tighten it back up? I can't remember if there is the same on the passenger side.

Did you disconnect the battery lately? If you kill the power, you need to 'reprogram' the windows by winding them right up and right down a few times.

Now, question: reckon I can grab more driver side door relays and switches and rig the other three windows as automatic?
