Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Aircon problem

Post by Tez1972 »

Hi all its my first post so please bear with me & apologies is this topic has already been posted..

I have a 99 406 HDI wich I brought a couple of weeks ago, I love the car but the aircon isn't working  , the light comes on when the button is pressed but nothing happens??, no fans kick in no drop in temperature?.

I was going to take it to K**k F*t tomorrow for a refil but thought I would ask first, also where is the aircon situated in the engine bay?.

Cheers

Welcome Tez :)
There's a pressure switch that prevents the compressor running when the gas pressure is low.
Make sure they pressure test the system because the pipe work around the condensor corrodes & leaks. There were some posts here recently with pics, worth a search!

Yes at that age it'll almost certainly need a new condenser (radiator) at the front. They only last about 6 years. I would say all your gas has escaped :(
