Peugeot 306 Roland Garros 1.6 1994 'L'
For sale is my son's 306 Roland Garros. I bought it in December '06 after his previous Garros was written off. This one had been standing for about 18 months due to a starting and alarm fault (dud battery!) so I had it trailered home and gave it a thorough mechanical refurbishment.
It would be easier to list those items which have NOT been replaced or refurbished, but if you contact me I'll gladly e-mail you the unexpurgated month-by-month story of the work done to it including an alloy radiator and heater matrix - oh what fun that was!!
For those unfamiliar with the Garros spec, it's basically a 306 XS 3-door 1.6 petrol, but equipped for luxury rather than sporty. It has electric windows, mirrors, and sunroof, stone-coloured half leather interior and leather steering wheel, boot luggage net, alloy wheels, red seat belts and carpet mats, front fog lights, power steering and rear wash-wipe. Only 400 were built to UK spec, and they are becoming increasingly rare in any condition. The original Peugeot radio cassette was not present so I have fitted a very nice Blaupunkt Valencia MP34 face-off radio and CD player which works from the original stalk.
On the down side, the driver's seat has the typical 306 wear on the driver's bolster, and the roof has a small amount of bubbling at the driver's side of the sunroof (also a typical 306 problem), but this will be professionally rectified before sale.
The body and bumpers have the usual selection of minor dings, but nothing horrible. Remember, this is a 15 year old car!
Included (if you want them) are the original sales brochure, touch-up paint, genuine Peugeot high-level brake light, decoke gasket set and head bolts, front and rear bumpers in silver of the deeper, D-turbo type if you fancy making a 'Super-Garros'.
The car has covered 132924 miles, has MOT until Jan. 2010 and tax until end of Aug. 09. Asking price is £695 o.n.o., which reflects the rarity and overall condition.
As I'm new to forums, I'm not clever enough yet to attach photos, but I have plenty, so please phone me 01257 265217 or e-mail '[email protected]' and I'll send you some pics and the refurbishment details.

Noooo! not THAT kind of face off!! The picture of the removed dash is proof(?) that the heater matrix has been changed recently - a pig of a job for anyone who's tackled it - it does require the whole dashboard out to do it - there's no other way.
So I'm feeling quite proud of having done this for the first time and having no bits left over!
What it doesn't show is that I actually did the job twice! - the very first thing you reconnect on replacing the dash is the brake stoplight switch - it's absolutely impossible to access any other way. Somehow I managed to move it out of adjustment without realising, replaced everything else and tested it, only to find that the brake lights were on all the time!! So after much swearing and cursing I did it all over again, this time devising a test method to make sure it was working before proceeding any further. Needless to say, I did it MUCH quicker the second time!

Have now added more views of the interior, not just the bad bits! - and also the correct pic of the dashboard IN the car.
Has anyone spotted yet that Roland sports a Knight Rider badge rather than a Peugeot lion on the grille?
Car will be listed on Ebay this weekend.

Have you spotted that it's the Decepticons (from Transformers) emblem, not Knight Rider, yet?peugeot406v6 wrote:Has anyone spotted yet that Roland sports a Knight Rider badge rather than a Peugeot lion on the grille?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
