Hi all
I am having problems with the automatic gear changes on my 2.0L 406 Auto Estate 2003 Model
I have had the gearbox oil and filter changed but the change is not smooth ahd the car holds in third gear too long on the up change and goes into third too soon in the slow down. I understand the gearbox has some electrics controlling this. Could this be the problem.
Any ideas?
Oohah

Re: Automatic gear change problems
To be honest the slush-matic is pretty rare around here so I'm not sure you'd get an accurate answer but we do know that fluid changes are important (as you've done).
Maybe get in touch with an auto-box specialist and pick their brains? I think to be honest the Peugeot box isn't the most well behaved so these places should be familier with common faults I would guess.
From my limited knowledge there are shift solenoids connected to the box and the engine's ECU and even the box has an ECU too (I think).

Re: Automatic gear change problems
AL4 = Satan.
That said, don't drive it. The more you drive a car with a bunged autobox, the higher the chance of killing it!
Is it throwing up codes or are the lights flashing from the snow/sports mode switch? If so, the box knows there is a fault.
I'd get it checked out ASAP!
