ECU

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

ECU

Post by BigGav75 »

I'm planning to re-map my siemens 90bhp 406, i understand it will have to be sent away to do this. Can i put another ECU in while its being done?

I understood that the Siemens system could not be remapped, at least with no wortwhile results. I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with this as I might be interested in it.

I believe that the injectors are coded to the ECU, so this may cause you problems.

Keep me posted on how you get on

I tried to get my 90 with a Siemens ECU remapped and couldnt without getting it sent away so I have fitted a Viezu tuning box and so far very impressed acceleration is a lot smoother especially in 3rd and 4th.

I used AP tuning (www.aptuning.co.uk) who originally tried the remap and then got the box for me - very impressed with them, Darren (the owner) went out of his way to sort this out after not being able to remap it.

Give him a try and tell him I (Tony) sent you :cheesy:

Well that's at least two of us.

Like I said, I've explored the same thing with no luck and also ended up buying a "tuning box" - a Tunit VCR. I've not bothered with the sending it away option as I haven't been able to do without the car at all. I'm happy with the results it's given me so far (with a couple of other mods), much more "driveable" on a day to day basis as most of my driving is over very hilly B roads. But if you go ahead I might be persuaded

He's based in kent - but the box you can fit yourself it takes minutes then you just spend a bit of time adjusting the screw for performance/economy or a bit of both.

Unfortunately I havent adjusted towards economy yet :cheesy:

Here you go - you basically have to remove one plug and plug the box in the put the original plug into the box and that is basically it I ran the cable round the box that houses the ECU as there is plenty of room in there and its nice and hidden away ( I took it out to take the piccy)
