2.2 sri - 2 questions
Hi again. I did a service today but I cant for the life of me find the fuel filter. I have a new one ready to fit but it aint anywhere to be seen lol. I have an old haynes manual but it dont cover my model. That says it is by the fuel tank but I cant see one. I have an estate by the way.
Second question. I did not buy an air filter as I was wondering if it is worth getting a performance one or not to bother? I have seen the K & N ones and a pipercross one. I have had em on older cars with less power than this and thought they just made a nice noise. Anyone think it is worth getting one?
Cheers
Simon.

IF you have one, it'll be just under the sill on the drivers side, just in front of the rear wheelarch. It's possible to see and change it without jacking the car up.waj1234 wrote:Hi again. Virtually zero performance gain, less filtration of the air reducing engine life, possible insurance invalidation if you don't declare itSecond question. <steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: 2.2 sri - 2 questions
Thanks for that. That was sort of my conclusion on air filter anyhow from what I have read but still thought it may make a small difference.
As for fuel filter I cannot see one but the fact that it was listed for my car at the motorist shop led me to believe it has one. I may need to have another good look

Some engines have fuel filters specified just for models destined for countries with dusty climateswaj1234 wrote:As for fuel filter I cannot see one but the fact that it was listed for my car at the motorist shop led me to believe it has one. I may need to have another good look

I never knew that. I have not come across a car yet that did not have a fuel filter and I always service my own cars. I am very surprised. I will have another good look and if I cant find one I will take it back for a refund.
Re: 2.2 sri - 2 questions
Nope, deffinately cant find one under the bonnet or near the fuel tank unless it is well hidden or tucked away out of sight. I felt sure it would have one though.

Just had a look on the old autodata cd and they do specify fuel filter change at 120,000km for the 2.2.
I know that doesn't really help you much but it is listed as a service item.

It has done 83000 miles so I know it is about due but had another good look this eve and cant find it lol. I have not had a car yet where it was not on view under the bonnet. Must be tucked away near the fuel tank. Looks like I am gonna have to get the rear end on axle stands and have another good look, may aswell now I have bought it

Re: 2.2 sri - 2 questions

Item 7 is "Filter Strap Injection EW12J4", so somewhere near the fuel tank.
Is your new filter this shape?

Yup the filter is that shape. I cant quite make out where that is? Is it to front or rear of fuel tank?

If it's anything like my two 406's it'll be cable tied under the sill near the o/s rear wheel arch, hope this helps!

Re: 2.2 sri - 2 questions
I looked there after reading the older haynes manual but I just cant see it. Need it up so I can get a much better look. Why is it not under the bonnet like normal cars lol.teamster1975 wrote:If it's anything like my two 406's it'll be cable tied under the sill near the o/s rear wheel arch, hope this helps!
