Camshaft position sensor

Post by Captain Jack »

Weather permitting, I will try and replace the rocker cover gasket to fix my oil leak. HBoL mentions the adjustment of the air gap for the camshalf position sensor to 1.2mm between itself and the camshaft. It also reckons that I don't need to remove the sensor but warns me about taking care not to damage it, when removing the cover.

How flimsy is this part? Should I remove it completely before removing the cover or should it be OK in situ. If so, is there any point to readjusting the air gap at the end of it all?
