She's gorgeous, I love GSDs

I've got a new one too, unfortunately although I got her from a reputable breeder, after spending a couple of days every week almost in the vets for the past 10 weeks, it turns out she has a liver shunt and will never lead a completely normal life.
The breeder did offer to refund if the pup was returned but how can you do that when you've had them 10 weeks and they've become part of the family?
I took a lot of stick from people on an animal rescue forum for not getting a rescue dog, I haven't posted there since for fear of them saying I deserved it for buying not rescuing.
Off to dig out a piccy now..

Don't let it get to you. I've had many rescued dogs and cats in the past and I no longer feel compelled to assuage my concience. Plus the two girls are working dogs, they compete in obedience and heelwork to music and so on. Neither of them were perfect from the breeders point of view, though we still had to jump through hoops to prove we were responsible owners with a decent home environment and could care for them properly.

Now the next bit isn't really for soops but is general info for anyone what doesn't know this

Most of the breed societies have a rescue coordinator who will attempt to home a dog for someone for whatever reason.

For example:-

http://www.corsini.co.uk/belgian-rescue/

http://www.flatcoatrescue.co.uk/

http://www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk/

http://www.retrieverrescue.net/

And so on. So it's possible to rescue a pedigree dog if one would rather.

Luckily for Italian Greyhounds, they very very rarely end up in rescue, and if they do, it is the breed rescue they go to, of which there are two in Great Britain.
I tried these first and was told that there weren't any in rescue at the time.
The breeder told me she knows of 6 in as many years that ended up there, as breeders will always provide rehoming back up if needed. It is a huge shame that evey breeder doesn't take account for every pup they bred, if that happened there would be no need for rescues and dogs being needlessly put to sleep would be a thing of the past.
Forgot to say Nick, hope the missus is ok
