I've gotten through 100 gloves in under 4 months Can you tell I've been doing a lot of car work recently?
Anyhooo, got a lift to eurocarparts today and got me some nitrile gloves. MUCH better for heavier duty work, or chemical work. £4.59 inc vat. Even given them some run-ins with wire brushes that would have easily torn the latex ones...
Me likey!

Washing powder or sugar makes a good abrasive.

It doesn't seem to, cement is the only thing that makes my hands go manky

One thing I've discovered with these nitrile gloves is since they're not powdered, your hands co clammy after being in them for a few hours, needing a couple of minutes to dry out after you've removed them. Didn't have this issue with the powdered latex ones,

we used to get issued these but they were withdrawn a couple of years ago with a warning linked to the powder being absorbed through the skin. I can't remember what the possible health problems were linked to this but we've never had the powdered ones back.
Unfortunatly for me, i suffer with quite severe excema on my hands, which i have to try and keep as oil free as possible. Years back the latex gloves with powder in used to make my hands balloon after about 20 minutes use.
Nowadays i use the powder free ones that the NHS paramedics use - lovely purple shade to them as well, even so, after about half an hour i have to take them off, was my hands in clean cold water, dry and then put a new pair on.
The build up of sweat in these gloves can be as painful to me as the oily crap im messing with! Never mind, we all have a cross to bear and all that!
I sympathise lofty, our youngest son suffers with terrible eczema, we're hoping that he'll grow out of it
