So there we where me and my lass cruising up the A1 between Wetherby and Thirsk, middle lane behind a Silver Focus at around 80 mph. Nothing strange there, as we pass the signs saying that the 3rd lane is coming to an end i see in my wing mirror a Blue Citroen C2 VTR blazing up it, i knew what he wanted to do, he wanted to "do" us all in the 2nd lane before the 3rd lane ends. I thought hes got no chance. Within a second he whipped past me and the Focus on the cross hatches at i would say touching the 100mph mark.
Then for some reason or other he looses it big time (maybe loose grit on the cross hatches) but he goes into a mashoosive snake eventually smashing into the central reservation barriers which spins him 180 degrees. This results him to going backwards across the two lanes and the hard shoulder onto the grass. Obviously im hard on the brakes looking in my view mirror to see if im going to get rear ended as me and the Focus disappear into the dust cloud getting hailed with stones and gravel.
There was no chance we could of stopped in time and how he didnt hit any other vehicle is beyond me, it was his/our lucky day.
As i said i couldnt of stopped so we still ended up going past him on the grass. Looking back maybe i should of pulled over but the Focus didnt and no other vehicle was involved so i thought f*ck him.
Im pretty sure cars behind me had pulled over to see if the young scrote was alright, but should i have stopped? Anyone else be in one of those situations?

You should have pulled over, opened his door and put a bullet in his head, just to be sure.
I don't really care what these morons do to themselves, it's the other people they endanger that bothers me.

Re: Excitement before Lightwater Valley
So he whacks the central barrier and shoots backwards across 3 lanes and missed everyone
I've seen stuff happen on the roads and just kept going but I kind of assess if it's serious enough to stop first. Sometimes you would be putting yourself at danger to stop on the motorway like that.

I concur with Steve and Welly.
There are two places near me on the M65 just like this, they are both steep uphill. You get the idiots that just won't back off and force there way through, I'm gonna laugh my socks off if I see someone smash into the barrier because they were so stupid and arrogant that they couldn't bear to back off, but as stated, I sincerely hope nobody else gets caught up in their nonsense.

DEFINITELY!TooT wrote:but should i have stopped?
How else would the coppers know how badly he was driving? Think he'd do anything other than turn the story around to make him the victim?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Excitement before Lightwater Valley
Don't you just love these tossers!! You should have stopped and given the police the full story fella....
Three occurrences spring to mind.
One where a jag XJS lost it while I was just pulling out to pass him on a dual carriageway early one morning, he spun right 'round, smashing into both barriers while I was standing on the anchors, and he eventually came to rest sideways across the outside lane, about 10 feet in front of where I stopped. Had no choice but to stop ('cos I was stopped already
) and the Jag was stranded in the outside lane with no lights after he smashed them all off! My car (Mondeo at the time) was sat in the outside lane, in the dark, on a corner, at the beginning of the rush hour with every back light on waiting for the police to arrive while me and the bloke from the Jag were over the barrier and out of there! A very long 10 mins!
The second was actually on the same piece of road, a BMW in front dropped 2 bikes off the bike rack in front of me at 70mph. Big skid... managed to miss the bikes (luckily they were tied together) but ruined a new tyre by flatspotting (it was on a corner
and pre ABS). Stopped on that occasion too, mostly so that I could swear at the bloke.
Third one was a mazda 626 turning right from in front of me but she was up the arse of a bus so couldn't possibly see if anything was coming. She ploughed head on into a Sierra that was coming the other way and bounced back right across the road in front of me and up the curb. Stopped again, this time to check if everyone was OK.

Re: Excitement before Lightwater Valley
Thinking back now i wish i did stop but as i was still in the second lane i didnt want to swerve across to the hard shoulder, also i remember looking in the mirror seeing a sea of orange flashing lights so someone must of pulled over and hopefully given the little sh*t a thump in the face.
It was just like one of those videos you see on Police Camera action/Road wars. They make me angry when they cause carnage involving other people.
