MOT tomorrow!

Post by teamster1975 »

I hope there aren't any problems, I changed the front discs & pads yesterday because they were badly lipped, adjusted the handbrake today for good measure!
Fingers crossed!

Good to know all is well :D

I still don't see why there are problems with the handbrake on these, I would love to get my hands on one that isn't working properly and understand why not....mine works perfectly.

There must be a severe flaw in my adjusting technique; I've replaced the cables, discs & shoes and it's still crap (If I get the car to remain still on a hill there's no hope in hell that my wife would release the handbrake!!!)
Please correct me if I'm wrong Jasper, I've followed Haynes procedure to the letter.
Release lever, tighten adjusters until each wheel won't turn, turn adjusters out 6 notches, the cable adjustment I can't recall but again I followed Haynes.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone :D

I'm certain mine's down to the backplates flexing (what's left of them!). I can have it set so there's serious drag on both wheels, then force the handbrake a couple of notches up, and it'll still not hold

...£90 per backplate...
