Does anyone know if the hand brake assemblies are the same across all 406 models i.e. phase 1 to 2 and estate to saloon etc

Well I can answer the handbrake question after just getting one from the scrapper off a mk1 Coupe. they aren't the same as the fitment for the cable is different. The later model has a captive nut for screwing onto the threaded end of the cabe whereas the mk1 just has a hexagonal stopper on the end.

Just got the car back from the dealers, Booths of Ditton in Widnes, and they bled the whole system, incuding the ABS unit, three times and still didn't manage to get the spongyness out of the system, although they did improve the amount of travel enough to get it through the MoT with an advisory.
