After doing much searching on here & other places,it would seem i have a common problem. My abs light came on a while ago,& with the mot soon & a few near misses,i thought i`d get it checked.Main dealer was cheapest for diognostic,£40.Code was front n/side d/shaft,£255 all in for replacement.I had a look yesterday,& found loose & split toothed ring, with a tooth broken. After searching around,i`ve found i can change just the c.v joint for around £35 + 2 ltrs of g/box oil.
Also had a internal grinding noise from o/side rear wheel & poor handbrake.Having re-newed disks, pads & shoes last year,i knew they were fine.I removed the disk & found the hand brake shoe retaining pin & spring had come off,& had stripped 2 teeth off the abs as well

Having changed/removed drive shafts/gaiters before on other cars,so is there any things to get caught out on?Or is it as straight foward as the Haynes manual states?
Same for the year hub.Never changed a hub before, but looks straight foward enough in the Haynes.Neighbour has lent me a puller/hub extractor.
I`ve also heard that once repairs are made, all being well drive off & the abs should re set its self & the light will go off.Is this correct???
I`m very mechanicly minded, but never tackled abs or hubs before.
Have some nice 3/4" sockets & bars for hub nuts(have nice big tools for my 35t digger

Any help or comments would be welcomed. Thanks
