Squeak Clutch

Hiya,

My clutch has developed a squeak sound when i press down on it, the noise also seems to come from teh gear knob, ominous signs of something serious???

406 110 HDI 2002 estate

The squeak is not coming from teh clutch but its coming from the gearbox when i change gears???

pop the linkage ball joints off the top of the gearbox - work out whether the squeak's coming from the linkage or gearbox

A bit difficult to do that as the sound only occurs when i drive the car.

erk! What if you put it into 5th and slowly let the clutch out with the handbrake on?

Tried that and as expected the car stalls.
