Gutless peice of sh....

First time I had properly drove the wifes 406 HDi90 with 144k on been a W 2000.

My god it feels gutless and I suspect its got a few problems...


Issue one: Sometimes it feels like there is no ooomph if with the pedal welded to the floor but after 10-15 seconds it kinda wakes up and get a nice surge.

Issue two. I noticed sometimes, like when entering a round about, 1st gear, into 2nd gear... accelerating into a gap and the damn thing it stuck at about 3000rpm with my foot welded to the floor... I tried modulating, off the throttle, back on - Nothing.... 3rd gear it went again but issue 1 was happening and it was been gutless again

When it "works" it doesnt seem to bad.

No MIL light... but 1 careful owner has removed the lamp

DTC is for Po2020 or something... generical code my diags say TPS Circuit B.Switch or something.

Ive ran it with the maf disconnected and its the same. Also likes to holds the revs at 1200rpm through the journey but 40-50% it will idle normal.

Since im driving and not idle I cant say where issues 1 & 2 relate to when its idleing fast but could be?

Ive cleared the code but it comes back straight away and it looks like the earthing mod has already been carried out.

Obvious first thing is a new TPS but I dont think it will cure it tbh been synical.

Also, when its reached temp the needle on the gauge doesnt reach 90c. Its just below by small amount and liva data show its not running at 90c. IIRC the liva data sendor said 78c

Help as I feels this is going to be on going battle lol

You my find replaceing the MAF unit will sort out the dead spot, as to everything else I've no idea.

If you can view live data, you should be able to watch the throttle position sensor

The live data seems to be correct though, but I only have freeware software.

With some software you have to buy the sensors are all over the place and at some points indicates the revs are at 10,000! so unsure whether its the software or sensors. I think its probably the software.

It shows calculated load in percentage and "absolute" throttle position.

Its going into Pug tomorrow for them to enable the trip computer in the BSI as they couldnt do it on Friday and the "head technicial guy" is there on Tuesday so we shall see if they can atleast enable the trip computer and maybe shed some light on the TPS Error...
