Replace 406 GLX Mk1/D8 ICE

Hi,

Sorry if this has been talked about loads of times before.....

Basically, the Phillips 6CD Changer in the boot has seen better days. Question 1 - does any body know if I can find a connector to connect an after market CD changer to the 12pin? Din (looks like an old fashioned 5 pin audio din connector, but it's got way more pins) lead in the car.

If not, any thoughts on connecting a replacement aftermarket radio/cd/mp3 etc with built in hands free bluetooth for the phone? I would really like to find a use for the existing audio display, and my research tells me that the chances of find an after market unit that will use this for anything are slim. I will want to reconnect the stalk and I see there are loads of companies offering these - is any one better than the other?

Lastly, anybody know what I am going to find in terms of connectors etc if I pull the existing 4050 unit out - my car is pretty much as it left the factory in 1998.

Hi mate

I know this is an old thread but just in case your still trying to sort it out.

I think you'll be struggling to get an aftermarket changer to fit - you can get them for the later D9's but not yours I dont think

Stalk control leads are easy to get but again with the earlier cars I think you will lose the display.

As for head unit

A belated thanks for the replies. Not solved the problem as yet but thinking about buying another unit off flea bay or a scrappy; I had hoped the existing unit would hold a pin out inside the case so I could make an adapter cable, but not such luck
