Hello everyone

Post by Saaamon »

Evening everyone, i'm 20, from essex and have just bought a Peugeot 406 LX 1.8 2001 as my daily driver as my Suzuki vitara which i use for the commute and green laning has just blown its headgasket. I've never very been in to Peugeots but i use to have a brand new Partner as a company van and i really liked it so when this 406 came up at what i thought was a bargin price i thought it would be rude not to have it.

I havn't got any pictures of it, but its a 51reg, 71k miles, silver met, AC + climite control, e/w, e/m, full service history, full mot. Overall its in exellent condition and wants for nothing, i paid £1300. Good deal or bad deal what do you guys and gals think?
I'll do a couple of thinks to it, such a lowering springs, alloys and a more sporty interior would be nice but thats it.

I said at the top its my daily driver and thats because im very much in to fords, this is my other car.

Hello mate, thanks for the warm welcome :). Its a base model 3dr that was once red and a 1600. Its now got all genuie kit, all interior components, even little things like the orignal bronze tinted windows. It did have a 2.0 ohc pinto in it but thats now been sold, not to sure whats going in it next, probably a yb atmo (N/A cosworth) or just a turbo yb, but as is always the case,, money!

Hello mate, thank you. Sierra's are good its my second one now, but there getting old now so they can't really be used every day if you want to keep them in good condition. Its good to know theres another ford fan on here.

Hello Fella!

Your 406 is bang on the money I reckon. I sold my 1999 exec HDi for £1,100.00 about 6 months back.

I wouldn't bother lowering the 406 I think you'll get to like the softer ride and get to appreciate it too....then you can spent your money on a cossie engine for the Sierra :P ......

To be fair, lowering a 406 is cheap and easy. A set of lowering springs sold on eBay yesterday for just over £20. It cost me about £30 posted for my lowering springs, £20 for a pair of spring compressors and £30 for a spare pair of front struts. So for £80 I've now got a lowered 406 and the spring compressors to switch the springs back if needed, or lower other peoples cars for a nominal beer money payment.

I see what you mean, but I was kinda thinking it'd be nice to have two different cars - one for fun and the other for doing all the donkey work in comfort.

Maybe I'm just getting old :(

I really agree with what you've just said. After having driven it properly today i dont think i'll do anything to it really, its extremely comfort and even with a rather small 1800 in it i was surpised with the way it goes.
