Oil Temp?
Just got my D9 90HDi Rapier.
On the left side of the instrument cluster is that gauge an oil temp gauge as it doesnt read anything (Or cold lol)
Top fuel and right coolant temp.
Do they work at all or is mine faulty?
Thanks

Re: Oil Temp?
The oil temp guage is actually the oil level guage and should show the amount of oil in the engine when you turn the ignition on. Not too sure of the other 2. They should show something, and if they don't move at all then something is wrong somewhere along the line.
Re: Oil Temp?
The manual states its the oil temp and its units are graded in degres, i get the oil level when i turn the ignition on but this is seperate to the dial (where the milage is shown)

Re: Oil Temp?
It is an oil temp gauge & you're right about the oil level indication via the mileage display, (D8's are different).
Mine takes a lot longer to register than the water temp, maybe 10/15 miles to reach working temp. Normal readings when hot, (on mine at least), vary from 90 to the next division up, which I imagine is about 115.

Re: Oil Temp?
Just a thought, (probably complete nonsense), but your car seems to have a more 'generous' spec. than would be expected for a 2000/1 Rapier?
I'm just wondering if a previous owner has added some bits from a later car, (instrument pod for example) and not all the sensors are present/enabled - as I say I could be wildly wrong, but Welly's & Puggy's cars didn't have oil temp gauges.
(Someone who knows will probably give you the facts)

Re: Oil Temp?
Well, according to parkers its pretty much spot on spec wise...
Oil Temp gauge
Auto wipers
4x Leccy windows
trip computer
single cd/cassette
ebony trim
rear dics.
Would Peugeot servicedesk thing say anything about the oil temp gauge in the list?
I know when I checked last night it showed it came with Rear discs...

Re: Oil Temp?
I had a look around the dipstick and dipstick tube but could not see anything sort of sender.
Does anyone with a 406 with a oil temp gauge know where the sendor and wiring is?
Thanks

Re: Oil Temp?
My 406 2001 HDi Rapier didn't have an oil temp gauge, but the ones I have seen have wiring and sender in the sump, at the back, part way up, IIRC.
Re: Oil Temp?
Over the weekend I had a look in the engine bay and couldnt see anything obvious with regards to the oil temp sendor.
On Service Box I popped my VIN and it says it does have the Oil Temp gauage.
Just wondering if anyone else has anymore info as to where the sensor and associated wiring is as Id like to get this working

Re: Oil Temp?
I don't know exactly but the sump would be a good place to put the sensor.
If you are still the rare owner of a fixed undertray then you'll struggle to see the whole sump easily.

Re: Oil Temp?
My V6's oil temp sensor is at the front of the engine near the oil filter
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: Oil Temp?
Ive had a google and know where the sensor is on the 405 so will look in the same place on the 406 later
