Re: 406 to 407
607 is a nice, comfy looking car. I wouldn't mind one with an ES9J4S, that'd just swallow up the motorway miles, but the 407 coupe? WTF were they thinking?
Why didn't they just hand the saloon blueprints over to those gods at Pininfarina again instead of making a pigs ear of it?

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

ive heard all new peugeot hdi's suffer from problems with dual mass flywheels, so dont know if this is related to the clutch problems??
anyone know if these were fitted with the dreaded dual mass flywheel?
Yes, the 407 has the dual mass flywheel.

I've only just "upgraded to a 406"ukharper wrote:I know we all love them, but but how many of us will eventually upgrade to the 407?

Re: 406 to 407
had mine 3 years now and i had the clutch replaced under warranty not long after i got it,its the dmf unit which is expensive like the 2.0 hdi 406....same problems, same issues, same to replace
both bottom balljoints replaced by me at a massive cost of £68 for a pair bought of ebay...simple to do about 45 mins a side
boot size, well we got everything in the boot for us to go camping..........same as i did in the 406
get the occasional beep telling me my front o/s tyre has lost a couple of psi
replaced the front discs and pads recently cost £85 from ebay, fitted them myself
had a sticky rear caliper, took it off, cleaned everything up,copperslip and refit easy enough.
serviced it myself,all very straightforward
thats been about it really

Re: 406 to 407
Loving ours after 2 weeks, the 407 is a much better car than the 406, much more solid and comfortable.
Love the 6 speed gearbox.
I agree, the 407 is fairly straightforward mechanically, nothing much different in the service side of things.
The handling and performance is so much better. Loving the cruise control and the boot is plenty big enough.
Love the way the mirrors fold in when you lock the car.
I'm still concerned about the clutch, but we have a Peugeot warranty for 12 months.I will keep a regular check on those ball joints, I knew about those before we bought it and if those tyre pressure things annoy me, i'll get my mate to bypass them.

Re: 406 to 407
I know I have driven one. It was a top spec 407 coupe V6 HDI GT. In a rather nice metalic blue and grey leather with all the toys but the fuel economy was not great for a dieselWelly wrote:The 407 coupe is freaking huge![]()

The customer reviews from what car are very good. And I could pick one up for around 10k mmmmmmmmm.
I'm still toying what to buy next. But my budget has got to increase. BMW 535 diesel M sport. Mercedes CLS diesel Jaguar XF diesel.
