It may be the actual bulbs themselves, as they are double filament type one of the filaments have gone.

Re: BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING
I agree, when both bulbs have gone, people think there's an unusual fault, I had this on a Rover this last wednesday.
If the top light works, the circuit must be working.

Re: BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING
IVE TRIED THE BULBS IN MY OTHER PUG AND THEY ARE OK
Re: BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING
1. Turn caps lock off.
2. Could be a break in the wire somewhere. If you look at the Haynes you should be able to work out where it could be. A multimeter will confirm

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING
before i sold the car the lights were ok, the only thing i have done was removed the buls for spares, the guy who bought the car put new ones in, i dont think its a broken wire, ive looked on other forums and this seems to be a common problem
