Hi there, I have only had my 406 hdi 110 for a couple months now. Got it as i am a final year university student who cant at the moment afford to run anything performance wise!
Since having it i have swapped the tyres around for maximum life, and serviced it myself, including, fuel filter (yes it is a pain in the arse to undo!), air filter, oil filter and an oil change. I have checked the front discs and pads and their fine, the rears i am unsure of at the moment!
The car only has 44,000 miles on it, its a 52 plate. The car does have a couple of issues though and seeing as i enjoyed the vw golf gti forums so much with my previous car (note the change from a fuel drinker to fuel sipper!) and have seen there is plenty of good advice to be had on here i thought i would join the community!
The car has the typical "wet foot well" problem. I have receipts to show that the last owner had this problem and peugeot sorted it by drying the multiplug connection down there and then bagging it up, thus making all the onboard computer work again. Well the onboard computer doesnt work now, shwoing no mpg, temperature, etc etc and so i have been advised and think it best to get rid of the plug and solder the connections solid to avoid any "corroded connections" again, what do you guys think of this!??!?!??
Also took the car to be four wheel aligned, said the front was well out and so was back. Bloke said at the back somethings bent or there is a bush out. well i can sometimes here the odd knock at the back going over a bump and so suspect a bush is out. The front he said something is bent and so hes made it as best as is possible. well it always did pull the the right a bit, and it still does even after he worked on it. the steering wheel is also out a little bit. I agree somethings bent or a bush has gone, but any ideas as to what bush, what is bent etc etc?!?!!?
I swear to god the mpg has dropped since he "tried" to align it as before hand round town im pretty sure i was getting more like 150 miles to a tenner, now im strugglinh to get a 100 or so out of it - not making for a good mpg figure!!
Any ideas and comments would be really appreciated!!
Thanks

im surprised the garage did the work with the car in that condition as it will never be right

Can't help with the alignment, but as regards your 'wet footwell', do you have a sunroof?
If so look at this - sorted mine in about half an hour for free!

Hi there, the car hasnt got a sun roof! unfortunetly! I have booked the car into a garage tomo so they can have a look to see what is bent underneath. I cant seem to see anything what with my lack of space and the fact that when everthing hangs down when up on a jack, everything becomes tight etc etc and makes it hard to see whats the problem.
As for the eletircal problem - im going to investigate the rear lights to see if there is water ingress there that is travelling down the car and clear the weep holes on the sills as i can sometimes hear some water in them.

HI,sounds to me like the horizontal link rods at the back are Knocking.Ive had mine changed and the car handles so much better now.
Unfortunatly Mine has has a smack at sometime at the nearside and will never track correctly again.(unless I fork out for jigging)

Thanks for that, i had looked up on here and seen a "how to" on how to change them and did wonder whether that could be the problem with mine!
