D8 Seats in a D9

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

D8 Seats in a D9

Post by rudymanz »

I have fitted electric black leather seats in my car, replacing the electric cloth seats.
They are from a D8 (1998 s reg) estate and have gone into my D9 (2000 x reg).
Everything fits/bolts in the same; but the electric seat wiring is different with some different connectors.
So my question is; does anyone know how to rewire them so I can function the seats properly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

If you give me the same amount of £££ it will cost to get a D9 set then I would happily sell to save me the hassle :D

I'm afraid the only experience we have here is fitting electric seats to cars that didn't previously have them :(

How different are the mechs? Can you trade wiring or is there a shed load of differences?

Any ideas? :)

May I suggest getting hold of the Haynes wiring diagrams for both cars? It'll tell you things like how many pins and what colour connectors are used on the various bits, then in theory you could just match the appropriate functions.

I was playing with this on my coupe at the weekend, just gone the other way and done D9 seats in a D8, i'll find up my HBOL as the D8 one definately has the schematics in it, including heated seats, you will find the cable for the pretensioners are different but there is an easy fix by swapping the pretensioner from your old seats onto your new ones, should be a 13mm socket and then unclip the cable, easiest way to do it.

I think the main issue you might find is your new seats will not have side airbags so you will probably get the constant light on the dash...

Or rip the electronics out of them and stash them somewhere under the seat...

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreaches for the red Haynes... Heated seats tick, electric seats uh-uh.

A pound to a penny, the mechanics of the seats aren't too much different, I'd probably just change the whole lot...
