Re: Air Con-fusion
want me to run over tomorrow and grab it for you?, the car its self has the leathers stripped (as it should lol) but was only in the scrappers due to the owners kids doing something with the immobilisers thus making it fit for scrap.
I can then either post it on, or if we do meet about the turbo problems, i can always give it to you then, doubt they would even charge me a £5 er for it.

If it's got any splits in it I won't bother as that's the state mine is in but I'd still buy you a drink for your trouble

We're meeting with the outlaws for a meal tomorrow for Fathers Day, I'd rather be grabbing bits for the car from a breakers!

Doggy, told you it'd be the condenser
Be carefull with 'cheapo' ones, I had one and it lasted all of 28 months before this happened, again......

Re: Air Con-fusion
Well I can't recommend any make as such for the Peugeot but when certain cars have a common fault and demand gets high then everyone seems to jump in with their offerings - good or bad.
I know "Nissens" make OE condensers for Audi, BMW and Volvo but maybe just avoid the cheapo ones for £69.00 etc

Re: Air Con-fusion
The link I put up earlier claims it's an 'OEM' product. I tried googling their part no., '16-1248', & this brings up several alternative aircon parts suppliers, all claiming it's OE.Welly wrote:Well I can't recommend any make as such for the Peugeot but when certain cars have a common fault and demand gets high then everyone seems to jump in with their offerings - good or bad.

I also tracked down the Nissens website, registered etc. & found it's their part no. 94534, (Peugeot 6455CQ), but can't find a stockist.
EuroCarParts sell a German EIS brand @ £95.45 inc vat & delivery

Re: Air Con-fusion
I'd probably have the Valeo one but push for a 10% discount from Euro. Valeo is certainly OE.
As an asside, in 2005 I needed a condenser for her indoors FTO and was being quoted £600.00 wherever I went. I got a second hand one from Birmingham for £200.00, took it to be inspected, it was peppered with tiny specs (leaks), lost £50.00 plus petrol taking that one back
Got one from a specialist importer in the end for £440.00
then 6 months later some other pipe perished, £150.00...Then came 'the crash' and the whole lot became a mangled mess....
The Honda cost me at least £450.00 to get the a/c going again
I'm only saying this because whatever it costs you you can always think of me and feel much better about it all

Re: Air Con-fusion
Have now been quoted £320 to supply / fit condenser, re-gas etc.
They claim it's 3 hours to do the change, the condenser isn't OE, but a 'reputable' brand from a supplier they've used for years without problems - though they didn't say what make.
Who fitted yours, Welly, and would you recommend them?

Re: Air Con-fusion
Mine was an odd arrangement involving a used car warranty, a salesman, a complaint, a 50/50 cost agreement and finally a rather shoddy fitment of new condenser....which blew 2 years later. The cost was £300.00 in 2006 of which I paid half but clearly it was a shitty condenser. Oh it was the dealers' 'Garage' what fitted the thing and then a mobile gas-up man
Why not buy the Valeo, some OE O-Rings, fit it yourself and then get it gassed? just a thought.
If my memory serves then you 'lean-back' the water radiator to get access? in all honesty I don't think it's a bad job by any means.

Got meself a valeo condenser arranged for £110 delivered, arrives tomorow
Just about to Servicepox some seals to pick up from the Pug garage tomorow.....
Reckon I need:
a 00006460P0 DOUBLE LIP SEAL £1.27
a 00006460P1 DOUBLE LIP SEAL £1.64
- methinks I'll get two of each to be sure - can anybody confirm, or otherwise?
If you can think of anything else I might need, (intelligence, mechanical aptitude, luck, occasional miracle, vaguest notion of what's going on etc.), please let me know
