Greetings,
I love my 407, but the only annoying characteristic is the way the fuelling shuts off so abruptly when lifting off the gas. This is done for emissions purposes, but they made a right hash of it and nothing overcomes the messy gearchanges this brings. Sustained and boost gearchanges sort of work but the results are inconsistent. I even got one of my compadres up at the driving school to take it for a spin and he came back muttering darkly under his breath.
I was planning to bin her in the new year for either a Boxster or an X5, but with the mileage I'm knocking out (very little) it doesn't seem worth the aggro, so I've vowed to keep her, get this sorted, and buy a classic as well (late 60's P6 or 504 seem likely). Anyway, I've been on to superchips to see if they can tweak the mapping in any way to overcome this, and she's going in Friday next week for a prod. If they manage to liberate a little more power, then that's a bonus but not really what I'm after. They've never done the 407, but they've done the 607 with the same motor (up to 172BHP, though one knocked back 191 when they'd finished).
My 407 has the 2HY engine, a very close relative of the 2HZ in the 406, so if it works for me it may work for you too. I'll keep y'all posted.

Re: 2.2 2HZ
Funny, as my T5 has the same little flutter as you drop below about 1300 rpm - a distinct cough as the fueling is cut and since the 5-cylinder likes to burble about at low revs it'a a very common problem. I even find myself anticipating the cough and dipping the clutch before it does it
Be nice if Superspuds can iron-out the map for you.

Wondered why someone would remap it for a gain of 2 Bhp

She's booked in for a week today, we'll see what they can do.
as aforementioned, I'm after smoothing out the low rev fuelling, but I wouldn't sniff if they managed to replicate the 191 frog ponies they extracted from that one 607
