A mate of mine has a 307 HDI which is showing signs of a bit of wear and tare. To cut a long story short it's down on power, MIL is on and it's due a timing belt change and a service. Following an incident involving £30 worth on unleaded last week and a subsequent bill of £172 to get it drained, new filter, and some "special" additives

Timing belt change, he's been quoted £350 +VAT (not including the water pump), seems a bit steep to me?
Eloys stuff, he's been quoted anything from £180 for a refill and forced regeneration to over £600 by one garage claiming it'll almost certainly need a new particulate filter

And none of that includes the rest of the 96000 mile service....
He's a bit concerned that the total bills could potentially run to more than the car's worth, he's seen similar ones on ebay for about £1200

What do you HDi guys think? What should he be paying for those jobs?
