Steel To Alloy Tyres
hello everyone,
would the tyres fitted to a set of 15" steels fit straight onto a set of 15" alloys like these? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-406-15-SE ... 5884fc76e7 i know they are both 15" but i was just wondering if the width and profile match?
thanks
Martin

Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres
Short answer, yes they would fit. Whether they' be the right size is another question.
Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres
The wheels in the ad are 195mm wide, if your steel wheels are 195mm wide then they are the same.
The profile is 65 meaning the tyres are 65mm from the rim to the edge of the tyre. It doesn't really matter what the profile on your steel wheels is.

Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres
Just a quick note Jasper, the tyre profile is measured as a percentage of the width of the tyre, so the profile is actually 65% of 195 which would be 126.75mm. Sorry to be a nerd about it!

Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres
thanks all! definalty needs a set of alloys ive just got another 406 (pics in another thread) its only an LX so im thinking a nice set of GLX alloys would set it off! i thought they may have fit i just wanted to double check before i go shopping around for them only to find out id need a diff set of tyres and considering the car ive just bought had 3 brand new tyres on 200 miles ago it would be a waste! lol

Yep! When I lost my security key to undo the locking bolts, I searched the scrappy, could only find ones for steel wheels and bought 4 from Pug for about £2 each. Then discovered my bro has a bagfullofty wrote:Dont forget the wheel bolts will be different on the Alloys (i think?)

Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres

i have changed my steels for glx alloy wheels they fitted straight on no problem. i brought them of e/bay they are corali alloys
as fitted to the rapier, they came complete with tyres, but the tyres on my steels are the same size tyre.if the tyres on your steels are the same you should have no problens with the alloys.

See, I am a clever bugger!
I used to work at Ripspeed so we had to know all these things.

Re: Steel To Alloy Tyres
I have a Peugoet 406 1.9TD
I am lookig to add some alloys.
The ones I have seen are 6.5Jx15"ET18
Yet, when i check the service documentation it says that for this model it should be 6.0Jx15"ET20
will the 6.5J fit?
What exactly is the 6.5J measurement?
What is the ET18 or ET20 measurement that is referred to
Many Thanks
