Intermittent Cold and Hot Blowing

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Intermittent Cold and Hot Blowing

Post by 1964marco »

Hi All

I have a 2002 406 HDi 110 Executive and having some problems..

My first problem was the coolant temp gauge not working, this morning the sensor was replaced and now thats one problem solved!

The main problem I'm having is the fact that the blowers/climate control has a mind of its own when it comes to temperature.. if I set it to 30 degrees it'll blow hot, then for no apparent reason it'll start blowing cold..

The little fan in the headliner works as this was the first thing I checked.

Any ideas? What else I need to examine?

Hopefully someone can help as this problem makes demisting the car a real pain in the ass!!

Cheers

Marco

Not many ideas, apart from the basics I don't really know how it works. You sure that little fan thing is working right? There's a little bead thermistor in it, maybe it has a fur coat. Failing that, airlocks?

Coolant is fine.. its not a matrix issue.. if I set the temp to 30 degrees it'll remain hot constantly.. any other temperature and it'll play up
