Round here it's the 4x4 drivers who are driving at 15mph on 40mph+ roads, then jamming their foot on the brake whenever they need to make a slight change in direction

I'll bet a lot of these 4x4 drivers haven't got a clue how to drive them in snow.

As an experienced 4x4 driver myself, you should look out for these cars when they turn a corner in snow, the car will go into a 4 wheel skid straight on into the kerb if you turn the steering too quickly, even in 4 wheel drive.

I was cruising at 35mph about six car lengths behind a Kia Soul (what a load of pap) on Sunday in really treacherous conditions when a VW Touareg blew past both of us. Is it wrong that i was praying for him too loose it into a ditch so i could stop and laugh at him?

Got called out to a nearly new van with broken wipers today. Is it not possible to realise that if you turn on the wipers when you have 6 inches of frozen snow on the windscreen that you may well break the wiper linkages?

Some people are so stupid, clear the bloody screen before you switch on the wipers!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I have a little moan now...

Yesterday, was following behind a queue of traffic doing a respectable 40 in a 50 zone (ice, dark etc.). Right in front of me was a white mini-van who kept braking ALL the time. I mean, wtf? Drop back a few meters from the car in front and keep the distance. Accelerate, brake, accelerate, brake... grrrr

Got fed up wiv frozen washers, so put some super-dooper concentrated, 'extreme wevver' stuff in last night....

Guess what happened this morning?

Oh, & another charming featurette - if the outside temp rises from -4 to -3, mine helpfully brings up the ICE ALERT message

Guess who forgot to change their super-dooper Sonax screenwash (for summer use only)

Also guess who (once the engine bay defrosted it all) sprayed the screen last night whilst doing 50mph in -3deg for it to freeze instantly like a winter's morn  :frown:

Teh Volvo does not have heated washer jets

I make a rule not to use the washers in subzero temperature until the coolant temp's at least 70-80c so the engine's had a chance to warm it up enough so it doesn't freeze on the screen. Also got myself into the habit of cranking the fans up and turning the AC off 5 mins before I stop the car so I don't end up with ice on the inside of the windscreen 8)

The -30 degrees stuff I got from the supermarket seems to work fine. And today the temperature is.... plus 12  We'll all catch penewmoanier.

We've just been to the supermarket, as a matter of fact, I've never seen such chaos. Even crossing the carpark on foot should come with a health warning.

And I do wish they'd stop giving sodding fireworks to kids (no Catholic plots here, they're for New Years), these don't just go "phut" like the nanny-state UK ones, these go "BANG!!" and every group of the little barstewards seems to have enough to blow up the Sabor  Worse still, our old dog is terrified of them and looks like she's going to poo herself. I'm always hopeful of a bang followed by screams but it hasn't happened yet.
