Going to take the cowling off today.
Does anyone know exactly what type of screws are there?
And also does it just come off once unscrewed or is there clips?

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
The screws are tiny tiny torx but they're so far up inside those little holes I couldn't get my torx set to them, as I said I got a long thin chisel screwdriver to them, it was just the right size to fit across the torx and turn it. The bottom half comes off, the top half has a lump of fabric to something behind the clocks so just fold it up out the way.

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
Do you think I could use a bigger drill bit than the holes and make the holes going upto the screws bigger?
When I first got the car there was all this ash behind the steering collumn...

So I am wondering if it's got underneath and is shorting it out.

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
Got it off
Undid the screw where my finger was with a normal torx bit...

Found a screwdriver which fitted the Torx bolt and used lots of pressure upwards to lossen them enough so I could get my fingers in the gap between the cowlings and just ripped then apart

Thanks for the help everyone much appreciated!
Right next question...
I notice on the higher end models they have a seperate screen for the radio towards the top of the center console. If I get one what will it show? And if I got the stalk for the TC aswell would it work? I've looked behind the cubby hole I have and the wires are already there for it.
I want to replace the instrument cluster with one with a rev counter. I've undone all the screws around the edge of the surround but it's clipped in in a few places and I cant find a way to undo them?? Is there a step by step guide on how to remove it anywhere?
Thanks, Bailes.

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
There are two sorts of "screen" in the top of the center console, one of them is just a temp display and the other is some clever thing that ties into the climate control (i think)
You might have wiring there, but it'll be the wiring for the temp sensor circuit, not the shiney stuff.
To remove the dash surround you remove the screws (can't remember how many there are) and then just lever the whole thing out, it will put up a fight so be gentle (but not too gentle)

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
Thanks. Im not on about the climate one. It's the one that shows the radiop info, temp etc etc. So if I pull out the cubby hole and fit it I will get the temp ??StevieboyTD wrote:There are two sorts of "screen" in the top of the center console, one of them is just a temp display and the other is some clever thing that ties into the climate control (i think)

Only if you have the temp sensor fitted in your mirror.

Re: Indicator 'tick' issue??
Well I hit it against the desk once or twice, give the inside a spray with electrical contact cleaner, tapped it against the desk a few times, sprayed the plugs and fitted it back and it's fine??
Yay ??
