heaters not getting hot

Post by peugeot406rapier »

hello everyone,

the heaters in my D8 dont get hot they only get slightly warm and the windscreen takes AGES to demist also the car seems to take a long while to get up to temperature, the funs do cut in when it gets too hot and the car runs fine, would be a thermostat or is there anything else it could be before i go out at the weekend and start spending money on parts!

thanks

Try bleeding it? Does the temperature gauge register something useful?

yeah i was thinking of bleeding it, the temp guage reads 70 for ages then it finally creeps up to 90 but for my daily journey to work of about 4 miles its still only on 70 and when i took it to lakeside at the weekend it got up to 90 seems strange ill bleed the system tomorrow and if its the same ill have to try the thermo, thanks!

Easy way to check is to feel the hose to the radiator when your car's warming up. It shouldn't be pressurised or heat up until the thermostat opens (at 84-86c if it's working)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Does sound like air in the heater matrix. Make sure you get the front offside wheel up on a kerb when you're bleeding!
