Cam belt change?

Post by Pugman406 »

Can anyone tell me when how often my cambelt shoud be changed? I have a 2000 plate HDI 110. In the service book, it says it was changed at 94k, the car has now done 146k.

Any help much appreciated.

every 96K or 16 years according to dealer. I don't think these engines are known for cambelt trouble but the tensioners and idler pulleys can fall apart. Many people recommend changing the water pump at same time as the cambelt and if this wasn't done when your cambelt was changed the first time it might be sensible to get the belt / tensioners and water pump all done sooner rather than later.

Thanks, been having alot of trouble with the fan belt sqealing in cold weather, only done does it when wheel is being turned, goes after engine is warm, dunno if its PAS pump, or the fluid, or water pump, its not the automatic tensioner as this was replaced but made no diff.

Must get it seen to soo as, before it knackers cam belt.
