immobilisor fault/URGENT
whilst checking some fuses this morning on my pug 406 hdi 90bhp i mistakenly removed a fuse that had on it the letters sh,and in doing so my car will no longer start.im getting a message on screen above radio saying engine immobiliser fault, the car does turn over but wont start at all,ive tried several things like disconnecting battery and so on but still nothing,im also getting a symbol of a key on my dash.is there anything i can try before i take it to garage in morning, hope you guys can help, many thanks.
Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
SH is a shunt, its not a fuse, you have probably got your immob and the ECU out of sync by powering down the immob separately, i would disconnect a battery lead for 30 mins and reconnect, then unlock and lock your car with the key in the lock, then with the remote fob, then with the key in the lock again, and hopefully it should then work

Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
tried battery for 30 minutes and unlocked and locked to no avail, still nothing from the key fob and still just turns over but no starting, really appreciate your help anyway
Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
You might want to double check you havent blown a fuse by removing and replacing a shunt, it could have caused a big enough spike to blow a fuse that feeds the immobiliser box as its a separate box that sits under the steering wheel, dont forget to check both fuse boxes though, could be either
Failing that, its time for some Peugeot Planet time to see whats going on, if your near warminster, i can plug it in and see if i can resync the key to immob

Try the re-syncing procedure mentioned in the handbook

Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
well the time has arrived, the car has gone to garage and several hours later i got the call i was dreading. The main circuit board in dash has gone, hence everything on car has shut down,i have to wait two days for part to arrive from stealers at a cost of£230.00,what with recovery, labour, etc etc,a whopping bill of £500.00,happy new year!

Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
That is not good
- I am facing a similar problem with my 2003 110 HDI estate ... immobiliser fault - both keys will not communicate with the car. Got a flat battery and the car is now with my local favourite garage who are trying to get into the OBD system - seem to be having some problems. My brother-in-law worked for Citroen for a while
He mentioned the aerial ring around the key gives problems, very thin copper wire breaks inside and he also mentioned a potential ground issue in the footwell under a big plastic washer, approx 30mm, which I should check, clean, and dielectric grease.
But he also said the immobiliser system cannot be accessed with regular OBD tools - it requires a tool called a lexia made by actia and is only found at main dealers, this is also used to re-code the keys to the controller. So I have found my Code card and spare key in case the garage have to resort to the Pug dealer (though I would rather go to the local Citroen one or avoid them altogether!
)
I also found a reset process for the Body Control Unit on this website: http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?c ... ol_failure - not sure if this applies to the Immobiliser?
If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.

Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
I have Lexia and Actia (and Peugeot Planet too!!), and its the main dealer version that can recode keys, so if you are anywhere near Warminster, i can do it for free, I can also access all the ECU's in and Peugeot or Citroen except the C4 for some unknown reason

Re: immobilisor fault/URGENT
Top Donkey - thanks for the kind offer
but I am in the North Midlands so too far away .. and the car is now out of action (i.e. undrivable!
) If I ever get going again I might pop in when I am down South though!

Ooh, Warminster. I used to live in Westbury, so a stone throw away from you. Still have a house there, which I may move back into later in the year. Expect a visit from me soonTopDonkey wrote: so if you are anywhere near Warminster, i can do it for free

No worries, anyone is welcome to get their car scanned, it only takes 5 mins to do, the bit that takes the longest is booting my computer up !
