So...
Got the door card off - got the wing mirror off and disassembled. There are 5 wires within the mirror - one blue and red (which is the heated element for the mirror - great, considering today in Sydney is 35 degrees centegrade) and a green, brown and white wire which powers the motor...
These wires run through the mirror loom to the connector in the door - though the sensor I have is from a Xantia (which has a different plug arrangement) - Dang...
So - The sensor wires are both black - Where in the door connector should they go, given that I will put new terminals on the end of them?
I thought i was on a role here, but ended up getting the shits bigtime due to the heat, humidity etc.
Cheers 406oc'ers!
Joel : )

Re: Temp sensor plugs
35 degrees
maybe you should have kept quiet about that one...
I thought the idea was to clip the old sensor off the wires, clip the connector off the "new" sensor and join the wires together. I'm not sure if it's the sort of sensor that minds which way round you wire it, I guess you'll just have to try it.

Re: Temp sensor plugs
I didn't realise you were retrofitting Joel!
The leads aren't there, you'll have to run a pair of wires through the door loom into the cabin up to the Trip computer.
I have done this as well as adding electric mirrors on my previous 406; the difficult part is getting the wires through the rubber concertina gland into the cabin; you'll have to drill out a couple of holes in the connector to pass the wires through.
I wish I'd taken photos as I did that job but it was before I found this site!

Re: Temp sensor plugs
Ahhh - Thanks Teamy!
Thing is, I have power mirrors in my car - along with the heated element! Are you sure that the connector doesn't have the terminals for the temp sensor - it looks like it does according to my expert observations?

Re: Temp sensor plugs
Weird having leccy mirrors but no temp sensor! Fingers crossed the leads are in the socket already then!
From memory it's a pair of black wires on the end of the socket, I'll have a look later. Bear in mind I transplanted part of a loom from a donor car.
