Like no-one else has ever made a cock-up. Sh!t happens dude, leave this here as a warning to others - not just for putting the wrong thing in the wrong bottle, but to think what they're doing.

It could be worse - there's a thread over on the gixxer forums where a guy decided that wiping his chain with a rag would be just the thing. Start bike, into gear, apply rag.... Poor sod's going to spend the rest of his days with three missing fingers.

Christ, I got off lightly! I lost the top of my right thumb!
Seemed like a brilliant idea at the time (being an invincible 22 year old  )
Bike on centre stand, run engine and clean chain with a rag until it snagged and took my thumb round the rear sprocket

Glad you got home safe CJ!

Sorry to hear that mate. Believe it or not the guy posted pictures he took with his mobile

The amount of people I see here with a missing digit or three is frightening, every time I go up the shed to chop wood (which i'll be doing once this posts) or saw wood or use the angle grinder I feel like I'm seconds away from joining them.

There but for the grace of God....
Remember after my first engine rebuild, got it going with a tow-start after flattening battery. Found small leak from oil pressure gauge union so tried to tighten it with the engine running. Spanner slipped, got my hand in the (steel) engine-driven fan & the spanner just nicked my ear on the start of its journey through an upstairs window across the road
I somehow got away with 2 badly bruised knuckles and cut-yourself-shaving sized scratch.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Fairy liquid... I *ALWAYS* carry the following with me:

Fairy Liquid for de-greasing the outside windows
Bottle of water (use with fairy, for de-icing windows, drinking, leaky radiator...)
Turtle Wax glass cleaner spray for the inside (and outside via a dropped window in emergencies when I can't get out of the car)
Roll of Bounty
10p piece for fusebox access (2p pieces corrode badly)
Small pack of latex gloves (for doing stuff on the way to a job interview etc)
Peugeot golf gloves (!!!!) for changing wheels
Wheel brace. Can't live without it!

The amount of times I've been grateful for the above is crazy. I'd never consider driving without them.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Yes, you know I carry the same stuff only one year I got it wrong and drank the Fairy Liquid, sprayed glass cleaner on my fuses, changed my o/sr wheel for a roll of Bounty and went to my job interview wearing latex gloves :|

No, although applying to be a gynecologist I thought it would help. Maybe my foaming mouth put them off?
