Re: FAULTS AFTER GETTING NEW BCU
The auto headlights can be activated / deactivated by the dirver, can't remember how though
, I think it's pressing in and holding the end of the stalk for a few seconds...
The automatic locking thing has been mentioned on here before, I think we concluded that this feature can only be changed by someone with the correct interface / hardware, so it's a dealer (or specialist) only job. If you find another way to do it please let us know, I'm sure a few of us would be interested.
Oil temp gauge, not sure if that's a BCU fault or something else that's been disturbed
Don't take any crap from the garage mate, they've got to get it right!

Dai's right - press & hold the button on the end of the lighting stalk for about 5 sec. to turn on or off. When turning on, MFD will display, 'AUTOMATIC LIGHTING ACTIVE', no message just a beep when turning off.DaiRees wrote:The auto headlights can be activated / deactivated by the dirver, can't remember how though, I think it's pressing in and holding the end of the stalk for a few seconds...
Oil temp gauge may well have a setting for present or not.....

Re: FAULTS AFTER GETTING NEW BCU
That was my thought, along with the "doors lock when car's moving" stuff - sounds like they configured it wrong. The auto lights stuff is standard (unless you can't turn them off...)

Aye, I'm sure there's an option in the BSI configuration to have it automatically lock the doors. My new Golf does it, it's going to be HUGELY annoying!
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: FAULTS AFTER GETTING NEW BCU
Sounds like they've just ticked a few boxes for you and kinda upgraded the car in a way but if you don't like those features you'll need to go back and especially the oil temp one - not all 406's have the oil temp gauges so maybe a box needs ticking again?
I like my cars' self-lockers! have you never driven through a dodgy area and reached for the door locks? I have and my missus narrowly avoided a bag snatch through an unlocked door at the traffic lights. Good feature these days I say.
