Serious modifications

Post by spotlessgrant »

The story begins! efore I start would like to say thanks to a couple of places, DP motorsport in Ayr Scotland, Selling me parts and Modification for less than E-bay! The Spotless valeting centre in Coatbridge fo machine polishing and detailing my 406 to an unbelievable standard for a very good price!

OK here goes, My pug was purchased from a car dealer friend of mine who recieved it as a trade in from a 60year old gent, who had it from new, only 57000mls! not bad for a 1999 T plate. I went to see it! Perfect! No rust, chips, wear or tears! It was a '99 T, SRI Turbo 2.0 8V, runs like a sweetie, all mots to prove milage, full service history from peugeot!

I Got it there and them £600! 11 months mot, 3 months tax!

Then I started, I took the dump valve from my supra and an old K & N from my mr2, a straight through de-cat exhaust and huse oval back box.

Lowered 60mls all round on coilovers (all from DPmotorsport) The Pug allready handled well, but now it was stuck to teroad and sounded nice!

Changed the head unit and put a 6 disc changer in it, wont bore you with that!

Now the engine, Good friend of nice owns a tuning company (wishes to remain nameless). First thing stronger head! New cam, and some stuff from a 306! (don't really know yet but will update), Piggy back chip, boost control on the turbo and turbo timer. on the rolling road and!!!!! 215bhp!! Not bad for a cost of only £400, (total £1000),

Got it home! Full bodykit from nicedeals.com (£350) fitted and painted by a local garage.

Then the detail! Car looks good from a distance but it is car washed to bits, fresh paint on the kit old on the car! Spotless valeting centre did an amaizing job!! cas looks like new! Inside and out!

Now its ready to go out and all done in 4 weeks!! The supra gets parked up, and my first love, the pug goes out!!

Had it for 4 weeks now and has 18" miglia wheels on it (Got them from my mates mondeo).

First track day, well not really but a hill climb in strathire, perthshire.

Ready!! 2nd corner, a nice 90 degree, full tilt, touch of hand brake.

Ahh No brake change!

Clipped the kerb with full hand brake, flipped it down the hill! about 40 foot drop!

R.I.P. My beloved 406!

A lesson to all!

It was - 40 feet

As long as you're OK, that's fine - cars can be replaced, and you can do the same work on it again - but the 406 isn't built for hand brake turns (or indeed, hand brake parking, as I'm told).

Your car would have been great for track racing, though, I bet

thanks for the concern guys! I'm ok. few bumps and scratches but nothing serious. Sold the whole car today to a scrap dealer in coatbridge for £500, shame. Never mind the game begins again! Think i'l try a 3.0 now!!!

Blimey. What are the odds, finding a blind mentally unstable scrap dealer like that?
